As part of our year-long Arts Council England supported Confluence: Plant; Grow; Nurture project, we will be running a series of writing and performance workshops and courses in zine making in Medway.
These courses and workshops are free to attend, but the venues have maximum numbers, so booking is required.
We are running writing workshops in Medway libraries, where you can come along and be inspired by a range of writing exercises and tutors who will have prompts and games you can try. Depending on numbers, these workshops will also have a performance element – so you may be able to perform what you’ve written to a small group or to the whole library!
Writing workshop confirmed dates are:
We anticipate we will be arranging a few more events at outlying libraries, so follow Confluence on Facebook to find out more.
Zine making workshops
We are also running workshops in making zines (a zine is a small, handmade magazine) at INTRA, in Chatham. We will be running several courses throughout the year; the first course is open to anyone with an interest in learning how to make their own zine or pamphlet. There are courses running later next year for young people not in education, employment, or training; and those experiencing difficulty with their mental health in association with IMHP.
The course comprises of 3 workshops, where you will learn what a zine is, how to write for and edit zines/magazines and how to use a Risograph printer to print them. The first course’s sessions are on 10 Dec 2017, 27 Jan 2018 and 18 Feb 2018. Once you have attended the training you can then use the drop in afternoon workshop to continue your projects. The course runs from 11am-2pm, with the option to stay during the afternoon to work more on your project.
If you would like to attend any of these workshops, or need any more info, please email us.
